University Libraries’ Staff Honored at Annual Recognition Ceremony

The University Libraries’ annual Staff Recognition Ceremony was held virtually on May 5th. At this ceremony, four library staff were honored for years of service and two were selected for the Libraries’ annual Staff Achievement and Recognition (StAR) Award. The StAR Award is a peer recognition program designed to honor excellence among library staff through individual awards. The Friends of the Libraries provide financial support for the awards.

2021 StAR Winner: Edward Trentman, Library Associate

Ed Trentman

Edward Trentman is a Library Associate for the Resource Delivery Services Department who has worked at the University Libraries for 20 years. Ed works nights and weekends and is as reliable as they come, greeting our students with a smile and hello from the front desk. Ed assisted Interlibrary Loan with scans from our book, journal, and microfilm collections during the pandemic campus shutdown.  He produced quality scans with a very quick turn-around time assisting our Interlibrary Loan staff with the fulfillment of requests. Ed also helped with the moving of the Educational Resource Center collection and assisted in a variety of shelving projects around the library.  Ed cares about his co-workers, student workers, and this library.  He is a library StAR.

2021 StAR Winner: Lee Davey, Web Developer

Lee Davey Photo

Lee Davey is a Web Developer and his work impacts just about everyone who uses our library.  He maintains the UL website and does a significant amount of work to keep the software and systems we use every day working – systems like our room booking calendars and remote authentication.  Lee is a great team player. He has led the WebTeam through multiple website redesigns, including the work the Team is currently doing with Marketing to move the UL site to Drupal.  Lee holds his standards very high for good website design and usability. Suggestions for improvement are always welcome to him because the website isn’t about him. For Lee, maintaining our website is for our users, and he is always advocating for the best user experience possible, even if it takes more work on his part.
