Friends of the Libraries Appoint New Board Member

The Friends of the Libraries recently appointed Mary Murphy to the Friends of the Libraries Board of Directors as the Alumni Association Representative.

Mary graduated from Wright State University in 1989 with a Master’s degree in Community Health Nursing. Mary has an advanced certification in oncology nursing and worked on the oncology unit at Miami Valley hospital for 20 years. Additionally, she spent over 30 years working for Ohio ‘s Hospice (formerly Hospice of Dayton) in a variety of roles. She retired in 2020 after serving as president and Chief Nursing and Care Officer. Mary has authored many articles, publications, and books in the field of oncology and hospice.

Mary is currently the treasurer of the West Central Oncology Nursing organization, secretary of the Wright State Alumni executive board, a member of Sigma Theta Tau, and the Wright State nursing alumni board. Mary enjoys reading and is part of a local book club as well as a writers group called the Stories Tellers. Other interests include hiking, cooking, traveling abroad, and spending time with her two grandchildren.

Meet Grace Ethier, Reference and Outreach Archivist

The University Libraries are pleased to introduce the newest member of our staff, Grace Ethier. As reference and outreach archivist, Grace manages the reference requests received in Special Collections and Archives and coordinates the exhibit and outreach activities for the department. She will quickly become a familiar face in the libraries and on campus.

Grace holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from Catholic University of America, and a Bachelors degree in History with an Art History minor from Guilford College in North Carolina. Grace comes to us from the Office of the Historian at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington D.C. where she worked for 10 years conducting and promoting oral histories, answering reference queries, and connecting audiences with primary sources through web exhibits, tours, and educational material.

Our Library of Things collection allows you to borrow kits, fitness tools, museum passes, photo and video equipment, technology tools, and more—all free of cost!

Borrow passes to visit the Dayton Art Institute, Carillon Historical Park, and the Dayton Peace Museum.

If you are interested in wellness and fitness, you can try some beginner kits to explore yoga, resistance training, and jump rope.

Our extensive games collection in the 1st floor group study room includes multi-player board games and card games, building kits and more.

Maybe you are curious about starting a new hobby? We have kits for watercolor and drawing, baking, music, birdwatching, gardening and more.

Enjoy Wright State’s beautiful campus and relax between classes in a lawn chair or hammock from our outdoor items collection.

Are you interested in photography or videography? We have cameras, green screens, tripods, and a ring light to assist you.

Let us help by providing the tools you need to be productive. Borrow a mini whiteboard kit, graphing calculators, computer adapters and more.

Explore our technology collection for microphones, DVD drives, powerpoint clickers, a Robot kit and more.
