Photo by Everett Neukom, 28 Mar. 1913: “West Third Street. Beyond lower left—(not shown in photograph) the New Y.W.C.A. is in the course of construction. The home of Mrs. Leslie Carter is where the iron fence stands. Y.M.C.A. is next—Atlas Hotel—3d and Ludlow Sts. (Jail & Court House do not show).—3d and Main and the Callahan Bank Building (with clock in tower). Smoke in distance show where fires were raging all Wednesday night (March 26, 1913). Tower—near middle of picture—Merchant National Bank (3d & Jefferson St.)—Across Jefferson St. back of bank building you can see the smoking ruins of the Lowe Bros. Paint Store Co. S.E. Corner 3d & Jefferson St. (No. 16 in this set of photos).—Conover Building is the highest building. White four story building is the Phillips House. Front of Arcade Building is in middle of block. Third Street Presbyterian Church 3d & Ludlow—Across Ludlow is the Algonquin Hotel—and to the extreme right is the new post office building in the course of construction. The street car in lower right hand corner hides any part that might have shown.”
