Additional Renovation Closings in June

As we announced last week, the Archives reading room is undergoing some changes this summer, including the installation of new mobile shelving and new carpeting.

Originally, we planned to close for these renovations from July 5 through the end of July. However, due to unforeseen scheduling arrangements, it has become necessary to close for part of June as well. The changes are as follows:

We will be closed Tuesday, June 18, and Wednesday, June 19, for the installation of our mobile shelving.

Our longer closing will begin on Thursday, June 27 (one week earlier than originally planned) and will still potentially last through the end of July. If we finish sooner, we will re-open sooner!

Wil and Orv supervise the renovations.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but unfortunately the closing is necessary to accomplish these renovations as efficiently and expediently as possible. Limited reference service will be available during this time. Please indicate if your request is urgent. If possible, delay your request until after August 1.

When we open again later this summer, we’ll have a bright and shiny new look. Furthermore, the reading room will have a slightly modified arrangement of materials, which we hope will better serve our researchers!

In the meantime, here are some photographs of what we’ve done so far (click to enlarge the photo):
