Another exciting month in Special Collections & Archives:
We started the month off by saying congratulating (and saying good-bye to) all the graduating Public History students. Several of them worked here in the Archives—including Sarah, Victoria, and Karis (and Isra)—and the rest we know from their course work and projects, since the Archives is a learning lab for the Public History program.

University archivist and records manager Chris Wydman conducted two workshops, geared towards WSU faculty and staff, on records management (May 8) and email management (May 29). (You can always find Chris’s upcoming workshops on the Records Management page of our web site, under Faculty & Staff Training; they are also listed on the University Libraries’ Workshops page.)
Aircraft Gallery (click to visit gallery)
The University Libraries’ Digital Services unit completed the digitization and upload of the first batch of one of our new long-term digital projects: an online Aircraft Gallery. Approximately 80 aircraft photographs from the William F. Yeager Collection (MS-223) were posted to this CORE Scholar gallery in May. We’ll share more on this project in the future!
Archivist Gino Pasi received a Friends of the Libraries staff grant to purchase new camera and recording equipment for oral history projects. Gino was one of several University Libraries staff members to be awarded such a grant.
We installed two exhibits in Dunbar Library: the Engineers Club of Dayton exhibit in the Alumni case on the first floor and a “Summer Fun” exhibit on the second floor:

Archivist John Armstrong conducted a tour of Wright Brothers materials for a group of Saudi Arabian Air Force officers, who were visiting in connection with WSU’s Institute for Defense Studies & Education, on May 28.
We also got several new collections fully ready for use (including online descriptions in our collection guides list, the library catalog, and the OhioLINK Finding Aid Repository). Most of these collections were processed by the Advanced Archives class of Public History students during spring semester.
