We are pleased to announce the recent installation of two new exhibits in Dunbar Library.
One exhibit centers around the Miami Conservancy District, celebrating the centennial of its 1915 founding. The exhibit includes photographs, maps, cartoons, and newspaper articles that tell the story of the Miami Conservancy District from its roots stemming from the devastating 1913 Flood through the completion of the 5 dams. The exhibit consists of two panels, one on either side of the center stairwell on the first floor of Dunbar Library.

Materials in this exhibit are from our Miami Conservancy District Records (MS-128) and the Dayton Daily News Archive (MS-458). (In addition to the exhibit, you can learn more about the Miami Conservancy District in our online exhibit “The Flood Menace” and see some additional photos in this DDN Archive blog post.)

The second exhibit “When the World Watched Dayton” consists of Dayton Daily News coverage of the Dayton Peace Accords, which were signed 20 years ago this year. The Accords, drafted at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in November 1995 and signed December 14, 1995, ended the 3.5-year Bosnian War.

This exhibit also ties in with Wright State University’s 2015 Common Text, The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway.
This exhibit can be seen on the second floor of Dunbar Library, near the study area and the cell phone zone. The newspaper articles reproduced in this exhibit are from our Dayton: A Peace Process Collection (MS-411).
Please come on over to Dunbar Library and have a look! These exhibits will be up through the end of 2015.
