We are excited to announce the recent digitization of over 400 images depicting more than 80 Wright State University Theatre productions covering the years of 1970-1988. These productions include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Arsenic and Old Lace, A Streetcar Named Desire, Sweeney Todd, The Crucible, The Glass Menagerie, The Taming of the Shrew, and West Side Story, just to name a few.
These images come from the personal slide collection Abe Bassett, founding director of the WSU Theatre Program. The Abe Bassett Theatre Collection, numbering several hundred original slides, can be found in the University Archives in the department of Special Collection & Archives. Following the donation of his collection, Bassett volunteered his time to hand-select the slides included in this digitization project.

This digital project has been a collaborative effort between the University Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives and the University Libraries’ Digital Services Department, which provided the digitization, metadata encoding, and uploading of digital content to CORE Scholar.
Please visit the University Archives’ CORE Scholar page to browse additional digital collections documenting Wright State’s history. And don’t forget to check out the Special Collections & Archives’ CORE Scholar page for digital projects from our aviation and local history collections as well.
