Exhibits Recall 1913 Flood & Subsequent Flood Prevention

What would March in Dayton be without remembering the Great Flood of 1913?

In commemoration of the event, we have a special exhibit of original flood postcards and photographs, from the Miami Conservancy District Records (MS-128), currently display in our reading room.

Please stop by our reading room, on the 4th floor of Dunbar Library, any time during our open hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00, plus Sunday 1-5 and Wednesdays until 9) to have a look.

In addition, we currently have a larger exhibit about the history of the Miami Conservancy District – which was created to provide flood protection for the Miami Valley following the disastrous 1913 flood – on the first floor of Dunbar Library:

And don’t forget to browse our blog. We have written many 1913 Flood posts over the years, including the long series in the centennial year 2013, with letters and diaries from several of our collections.
