May 1964: Inglorious end for a city landmark. For many years the busy traveler used as his guide the clock tower in the Union Station depot. It told him how much time he had to make his train. But with the changing railroad age passenger traffic has diminished and so has the Union Station. The clock tower section is now being dismantled so Sixth St. can be extended to Wilkinson St. A small, modern terminal will replace the old landmark. DDN staff photo by Wally Nelson.
