The next meeting of the Huffman Prairie Aviation Historical Society will take place on Monday, May 1, at 7:00pm. All are welcome!
The program will be held at the East Interpretive Center, Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, 2380 Memorial Road (intersection of State Route 444 and Kauffman Road), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
On Monday night, Phil Marshall will speak on his experiences in Vietnam with his presentation “Flying Unarmed Medevac Helicopters in Vietnam.”
Born and raised in Beavercreek, Phil served as a medevac helicopter pilot in Vietnam with the radio call sign “Dustoff.” On November 15, 1969, Phil was wounded during a mission and returned to the United States due to the severity of the wound. He received the Purple Heart and 6 awards of the Air Medal.
During his time in Vietnam, Phil tracked his daily activities and missions in a diary. In 2012, his book, the “Vietnam Diary,” was published with detailed entries and photographs documenting his experiences from July 2-November 14, 1969.
