Digital Spotlight: WSU Aerial Photographs

Did you know that the University Archives has aerial photographs of campus? And did you know that you can view many of these photographs online?

You can enjoy dozens of aerial views of Wright State University online, anytime, free, through the Wright State University Campus Online Repository, as part of the gallery CORE Scholar: Wright State University Historical Photos Collection. To limit the gallery to aerial photos only, search for “aerial photography” (or just click here to view search results for aerial photos only).

The photographs are part of the University Archives collection for the Center for Teaching and Learning, in the Office of Marketing. The online gallery includes aerial views of campus from as early as 1968 and as late as the 1990s. It is fascinating to be able to literally see the evolution of Wright State’s physical footprint over the years.

This digital project was a collaborative effort between the University Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives and the University Libraries’ Digital Services Department, which provided the digitization, metadata encoding, and uploading of digital content to CORE Scholar.
