The Relief Team (ms457_01_19)
The glass plate stereoview slides and viewer were purchased by Hugh O. Merron (1894-1966) in Paris, France. Merron served in the American Expeditionary Forces stationed in France during World War I. The collection includes a stereoviewer and accompanying glass plate stereoscopic photographs of war scenes from World War I. Stereoscopic photographs are double pictures of the same scene, side by side, which produces a three-dimensional effect when viewed through a stereoviewer.

This digital project has been a collaborative effort between the University Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives and the University Libraries’ Digital Initiatives and Repository Services (DIRS) Department, which provided the digitization, metadata encoding, and uploading of digital content to CORE Scholar.
