We are pleased to announce that a new digital collection of historical woman’s rights research materials from the Ruth Herr Papers (MS-91) are now freely available online, anytime, through the Wright State University Campus Online Repository, at CORE Scholar: Ruth Herr Papers.
Ruth Herr (1897-1985) was an art teacher in the Dayton and Oakwood public schools, as well as at the Dayton Art Institute. She retired in 1960 after 39 years of teaching. She was married (James H. Herr, 1893-1944) but had no children.

The materials in this collection, which date from 1935-1949, reflect Herr’s interest in women’s rights and include information on the National Woman’s Party, as well as the Equal Rights Amendment. Materials available online include a speech given by Ruth Herr (above); the Constitution of the National Woman’s Party of the Third Congressional District and a set of proposed amendments to it; newspaper clippings; and a few miscellaneous publications (such as the one below concerning married teachers in Dayton schools).

This digital project has been a collaborative effort between the University Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives and the University Libraries’ Digital Initiatives and Repository Services (DIRS) Department, which provided the digitization, metadata encoding, and uploading of digital content to CORE Scholar.
