The University Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives are happy to announce the launch of our new website, created in collaboration with the Office of Marketing. The new website officially launched on August 3, 2022, in conjunction with the launch of the new website for the University Libraries. For more information about the overall UL web site makeover, learn more on the UL blog.
Most of the sections and content are the same as they were before, but things have just been moved around a bit and look a little different.
Changes specific to Special Collections and Archives include:
- Explore the SC&A resources and services through a new drop-down menu that is accessible from any page of the UL web site.
- Our “Ask an Archivist” and Research Request Form have been incorporated into the streamlined and simplified “Ask Us” service, a one-stop location (also accessible from any page of the UL web site) for all your library/archives-related questions! You can still find our Archives Research Request form there, and (for more general inquiries) we are also listed on the Contact Us form.
- We have a brand new Collection Guides portal, for a much more dynamic searching experience in our manuscript and local government collections.

Our archivists have been working hard for the past 2+ years to import our legacy finding aids into a new system powered by ArchivesSpace (an open-source archives information management application), replacing the previous home-grown collection guides system that served us well for more than a decade! Among its many perks, the new system will allow for much more granular searching and description. We are really excited about it, and we hope you will be too!
If you have any questions about our new web site or collection guides portal, please use the Contact Us form, and under “My question is related to,” please be sure to select “Archival material or local history” so that your question comes directly to us.
