Featured in the Catalog

The faculty of Wright State University make great contributions to their scholarly fields. The University Libraries are doing our best to make their work a bit easier for you to discover and find through our social media channels!

On Fridays, the libraries are featuring faculty who have books available in the University Libraries’ catalog. Social media posts include a picture of the faculty member inside the libraries with their books. Each post includes a link to the catalog entry for the book, so you can easily find it. If you’re interested in having your publication related to your scholarship featured on the libraries’ social media platforms, contact library-social@wright.edu or contact your subject librarian.

University Libraries Honor the 2021 Fall Semester Library Student Assistant Award Recipients

The University Libraries held our biannual Library Student Assistant Award reception on October 22, 2021. Three students were selected for the Fall semester awards and received a $500 award for their excellent job performance in the University Libraries. Library Student Assistant Awards are funded by contributions to the Campus Scholarship Innovation Campaign from the University Libraries’ staff and other donors, and interest earned from the Friends of the Libraries endowment fund. To date, 422 awards have been distributed to 245 students totaling over $197,150.

University Libraries staff and the Friends of the Libraries Board would like to congratulate this semester’s winners:

Tori Ceyler, a graduate student majoring in Social Work, began working for the Resource and Delivery Services Department in the Fall of 2020. She is honest, efficient, and accurate in her work. She takes her responsibilities seriously. This semester she has taken on additional responsibilities and has regular shifts at both the Information Desk and the Circulation Desk. She has a strong understanding of the libraries’ policies and priorities and does a great job at consistently helping new student workers understand the various details, exceptions, and issues that regularly arise as part of our Circulation work. Tori has helped train new student employees and sets the standard for them.

Jasmin Clark is a junior majoring in Integrated Language Arts who has worked for the Resource and Delivery Services Department and Information Commons Services Team since June 2021.  She is always helpful and courteous with co-workers and patrons. She has a very upbeat, can-do attitude and is willing to try different approaches and techniques to serve our patrons. She’s able to manage and prioritize questions that come in over the phone and in person at the Information Desk and the Circulation Desk. She is very conscientious and thorough in her work. Jasmin has demonstrated an eagerness and determination to learn all of the equipment in the Information Commons area so she can assist patrons in the Charles and Renate Frydman Educational Resource Center as well as offer in depth assistance on the new photocopier/printer/scanners. She also spends time at the Circulation Desk assisting patrons with course reserves, checking materials in and out, and shelving items.

This is Zyanya Menchaca-Howell’s third Library Student Assistant Award.  Majoring in Creative Writing, Zyanya is a senior who has worked for the Instruction & Research Services Department since Spring 2019. Zyanya has a tremendous work ethic, is a fast learner, adaptable to changing circumstances, and can lead, teach, or respectfully guide others. Working extensively with the Information Commons Services staff, Zyanya helped to develop the Holocaust Remembrance Month physical and book displays. Attention to detail and dependability were crucial to the success of the project. Zyanya has always been a library advocate and has repeatedly helped us discover and understand the library needs of our Wright State University Student Community.
