The following disclaimers apply to all social media channels maintained by Special Collections & Archives, Wright State University Libraries.
User-Generated Content
Due to the variety of social media channels, user-generated content (e.g., comments or replies) on, or referring to, SC&A channels may not necessarily be screened or approved by SC&A before it is posted.
SC&A reserves the right, but assumes no obligation, to remove any user-generated content on its channels that is deemed inappropriate or objectionable for reasons including, but not limited to:
- Violations of the standards set by each third-party provider
- Content that is unlawful, off-topic, repetitive, or commercial in nature
- Items or comments that are obscene, racist, derogatory, or similarly objectionable
- Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language
- Potentially libelous statements
- Material constituting plagiarism or copyright infringement
- Commercial promotions, political endorsements, or spam
Furthermore, as Wright State University is a public entity, users should be advised that any user-generated content submitted to SC&A’s social media channels may be subject to disclosure as a public record, under Section 149.43 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Links, Endorsement, and Advertising
SC&A social media channels may contain hyperlinks to external internet sites that are not provided or maintained by SC&A or Wright State University. However, SC&A cannot guarantee the accuracy, relevance, timeliness, or completeness of these external sites.
In addition to material posted by SC&A, social media channels may contain ads and suggestions for other profiles selected by the social media tool itself (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) and links to third party sites included in user comments. The content of these ads, profiles, and links is outside the control of SC&A and should not be considered an official endorsement of any product, person, or service, and may not be quoted or reproduced for the purpose of stating or implying endorsement or approval of any product, person, or service. SC&A does not receive any revenue from any of these links or sites.
“Following” Others
SC&A social accounts may “follow,” “like,” or otherwise subscribe to the social media channels of other organizations, entities, or individuals whose content feed frequently includes items that may be of interest to SC&A or its audience, particularly if that content is frequently relevant to one of SC&A’s collecting areas (aviation history, local history, and Wright State University). Subscribing to a channel should not be construed as, nor does it imply, an endorsement of that channel.
